Sun protection is on the way for parks throughout the Bundaberg Region.

More than half a million dollars will be invested in a range of shade projects for the region’s parks.

Bundaberg Regional Council environment portfolio spokesman Cr Wayne Honor said Council was taking a proactive approach to ensuring the region’s parks and open spaces were appropriately protected from the sun.

“Council is currently developing a shade policy to guide the provision of shelter within parks and open spaces throughout the region,” Cr Honor said.

“The installation of shade – whether it be natural shade from trees or structural shade such as sails – is a key consideration in the planning and design for future park upgrades.”

  1. Re the new development area at Elliott Heads foreshore, this is a beautiful family friendly area and coming ahead nicely.

With respect, may we suggest as this is the case that council considers putting in more children’s play equipment (eg Lake Ellen playground) and extra shaded areas near the hall.
