Police have reminded residents to keep their gates and fences secure so pets remain safe and don’t roam the streets.
It follows Zorro the Dachshund being apprehended in Bundaberg recently.
Police say Zorro is a repeat offender and serial escapee.
“Constable Grace Byrne was out on patrol recently and found this rather cute pooch,” police said.
“Poor little guy seemed lost and out past his bedtime. The officers performed a quick doorknock of the area, with the neighbours pointing them in the right direction, enabling him to be reunited with his owner a short time later.
“While Zorro might be fulfilling his swashbuckling dreams roaming about the neighbourhood, this is a timely reminder to ensure gates and fences are secured so our pets are always safe.”
