VMR Bundaberg is a non-profit volunteer organisation dedicated to providing a safer marine environment for the boating community.

Rescue crews are highly trained and hold relevant and current Marine Authority Certificates of Competency.

The squadron is responsible for maintaining surveillance in an area extending off the Central Queensland coast from Fairfax Island in the north to the Burrum River in the south, and to the ocean side of Fraser Island to the east, representing some 4000 square nautical miles of ocean.

Crews assist with community events including the Down Under Rally, Lake Monduran Fishing Classic, Bundaberg Multicultural Festival, Dragon Boat regattas and the VMR Bundaberg Family Fishing Classic.
