Livestock market optimism lifts after rain

Burnett Livestock & Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Monday, 18 March at Biggenden saw a rain-reduced yarding of 621 head. The market was optimistic on the back of some good rain in the region.

Cattle were drawn from Theodore, Biloela, Gogango, Lowmead, Childers, Mundubbera, Proston, Monto, Hervey Bay, Mt Perry, Gin Gin, Gayndah, Bundaberg, Bucca, Maryborough and all local areas.

Four and six-tooth Brahman cross bullocks from Teebar sold for 280c/$1620. Red Brahman two and four tooth bullocks from Wallaville for 271c/$1377. Four and six tooth Grey Brahman bullocks from Biggenden sold for 267c/$1298.  Four and six tooth Droughtmaster heifers from Teebar sold for 257c/$1401.

Black baldy cows from Gin Gin sold for 213c/$1252. Heavy Santa Gertrudis cows from Bucca sold for 209c/$1527.  Droughtmaster cross cows from Mundubbera sold for 208c/$1173.  Black Angus cows from Wallaville sold for 199c/$1127.  Brahman cross cows from Hervey Bay sold for 205c/$1297.

Milk and two tooth Red Brangus steers from Rosedale sold for 252c/$998. Milk tooth Droughtmaster steers from Gin Gin sold for 255c/$897.  Two and four tooth Brahman cross steers from Ban Ban Springs sold for 274c/$1271.

Droughtmaster weaner steers from Theodore sold for 260c/$801.  Santa Gertrudis cross weaner steers sold for 246c/$699. Light Droughtmaster weaner steers from Monto sold for 280c/$459.

Milk and two tooth Charbray heifers from Dallarnil sold for 235c/$878. Milk tooth Droughtmaster heifers from Biloela sold for 218c/$650. Milk tooth Droughtmaster heifers from Childers sold for 228c/$753. Milk tooth Droughtmaster heifers from Dallarnil sold for 228c/$596. Droughtmaster heifers from Theodore sold for 244c/$736.

Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Theodore sold for 222c/$488.  Angus weaner heifers from Monto sold for 226c/$501.

Cows and calves topped at $900/unit.
