More than 3500 track and field athletes of all ages have converged on Sydney's Olympic Park Athletic Centre for the Junior and Open aged Track and Field Championships for able-bodied and para-athletes.

The titles began on Monday and finish tomorrow, 7 April.

Jano won silver in the under 15 javelin event on Wednesday, throwing 42.58 metres at his first attempt.

He was just shy of the winner, fellow Queenslander Wihan Kruger at 45.06 metres.

The next day, Hendré also won silver in the under 17 competition, throwing the javelin 58.14 metres at his second attempt.

Harrison Lucas from New South Wales won gold on home turf with a toss of 63.28 metres.

Dad Len Kirchner, from Bargara, said on Facebook they were proud moments to see both boys on the podium at such an elite competition.
