A bit of food for thought about premiership chances.

Here's the bad news. Based on historical statistics, half the teams are already out of contention for the title this year.

No side has ever won the competition with just two wins or less from the opening seven rounds. So that's it for Brisbane, Cowboys, Bulldogs, Warriors, Knights, Penrith and the Titans.

No team has ever won the a title after conceding 50 points or more in a regular season game, so based on that you can scrub the Tigers too.

If you've recovered from that information overload, we have a big week of footy.

My match of the round is none other than the anticipation of Souths playing Broncos on Thursday night. What a game we are in for.

Not before a ball is kicked the stories and headlines over Wayne leaving and Seibold taking over, will dominate all the outside noise.

This will only add to the spectacle of the game.

That is why this is my match of the round.

The question is if the Broncos can produce a similar performance and back that up again this week – they will give themselves every chance.

I just think Wayne's men will be too good. They have the form halves of the competition. Combine that with Damien Cook, out of dummy half with the massive forward pack of Souths, led by Sam Burgess.

I feel the experience of Souths will get them over the line.

My upset of the round is Parramatta to defeat the Dragons back at home.
