Did you know May is Lung Health Awareness Month?

According to the Lung Foundation Australia, the national campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of lung health and how to recognise and act upon the symptoms of lung disease.

The team at the Bundaberg and District Lung Support Group are hosting a special seminar on Friday to help residents learn more about lungs.

Committee member Gloria Snadden said the free Meet Your Lungs seminar, held at the Cive Centre, would focus on chronic lung conditions and their management and would feature presentations from allied health and medical professionals.

“The three local speakers include the Respirator Clinical nurse Consultant from the Bundaberg Hospital, a local pharmacist and a sports physiologist who conducts “Lungs in Action” rehab groups for the Australian Lung Foundation here in Bundaberg,” she said.

Displays of products and information will also be included at the event as well as a morning tea.

Council supports lung health event

Ms Snadden said the seminar was supported by Bundaberg Regional Council through micro grant funding.

“Bundaberg Regional Council have allocated a micro grant and free use of the Supper Room in Civic Centre allowing us, The Bundaberg and District Lung Support Group, aligned with Lung Foundation Australia, to organise this seminar,” she said.

The Meet Your Lungs free seminar will be held on Friday, 31 May at the Civic Centre Supper Room from 9 am to 12 pm.
