Do you know how much fun it can be playing in the sand?

Local businesses such as Farmfresh Fine Foods and Oscar Motel are returning for the second year of the Beach 365 Indoor Beach Volleyball Corporate and Community Challenge.

“Working and living in a regional area can have its challenges which makes it important to take some time out,” Farmfresh Maintenance Coordinator Dusty Sinnamon said.

“It is good for staff morale and team building for a workplace to socialise and we thought this was a great, low cost way to spend a Saturday afternoon.”

Beach 365

Beach 365 is Bundaberg’s biggest volleyball venue with four indoor rebound beach courts and programs catering for all players regardless of age, ability or experience.

“For over six years we have built up weekly competitions and events at the complex and now hold one of the nation’s best inter-club rebound volleyball events in March every year,” Beach 365 owner Shane Piltz said.

“We held our first Corporate and Community Challenge to support our local community and give them an opportunity to have some fun and team build after a difficult start to 2013.

“We have continued each year as we recognise the need for some time out for our community and staff.

“The winning corporate and community teams each receive individual medallions and will play off for the “Challenge Cup”.

However, Mr Piltz said to make sure the event was about group participation and fun, all teams would have an equal opportunity to win the door prizes ranging from kiosk vouchers and merchandise packs to free functions and advertising.

“The event is about having fun and giving it a go – you don’t have to be an elite athlete, but you do have to know how to have fun,” he said.

The challenge will be held this Saturday 15 June from 12.30 pm to 7 pm with corporate and community teams invited to participate.

Spectators are welcome, doors open from 12 pm.
