There will be plenty of glamour at the Bundaberg Pop-Up Polo event on 31 August 2019 with star Jordan Lamaison confirmed to compete and Kimberley Busteed judging fashions on the field.

Bundaberg Regional Council supported the Pop-Up Polo event application in April.

Organised by Events Queensland, directors Matt Turich, Peter Hawkins and Benito Zussino are bringing the popular spectator sport to the region following their first successful Pop-Up Polo in Rockhampton last year.

This year’s event in Rockhampton was sold out.

Council’s sport and recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Helen Blackburn said Pop-Up Polo is popular and not to be missed.

“This is a very unique event for Bundaberg and one that will be sure to draw in the crowds,” Cr Blackburn said.

“The polo match will be ticketed with over 1500 people expected to attend.”

A social media campaign has begun to promote the Bundaberg event.

Organisers say: “After our sold out Rockhampton event wowed audiences in the Beef Capital, Pop-Up Polo moves to Bundaberg for its debut in the Rum City. Tickets are on sale now and selling fast, so grab yours today and experience this inimitable event that is capturing the imagination of regional Queensland. Tickets: eventopia.co/bundabergpolo.”

“We are thrilled to announce the participation of Jordan Lamaison (aka Keanu Reeves of Polo) at Bundaberg Pop-Up-Polo!

“One of regional Queensland’s favourite daughters, Kimberley Busteed, will once again grace the marquees of Bundaberg ‘Pop-Up Polo’ in her role as series ambassador and fashions on the field judge. Kimberley will be in Bundaberg in the coming weeks for Pop-Up Polo‘s official media launch. Stay tuned for where you might be able to catch the former Miss Universe Australia.”

Cr Blackburn said the event provides an opportunity to promote the region, with a professionally marketed video included in the event application.

“The Events Queensland team carry out extensive filming in the region in the lead-up to the event for promotion and content creation,” she said (see video above).

“The footage from last year’s event is truly fantastic and highlights the many great aspects of the sport, and the positivity it brings to the town.

“We are very much looking forward to the opportunities that come with Pop-Up Polo.”

Cr Blackburn said the event had secured financial support from Bundaberg Regional Council, including in-kind assistance such as waste disposal and field preparation.

The event will be held at the Bundaberg Show Precinct, 65 Kendalls Road, on Saturday, 31 August 2019.
