Opera by the Lake is on again this year as part of the annual Childers Festival 2019 celebrations.

Lake Redbrook will soon come alive with beautiful sounds when Opera By The Lake is held as part of Childers Festival 2019 on 27 July.

Join Opera Queensland for an afternoon outdoor concert set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Redbrook.

Bundaberg Regional Council community and cultural services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said the event was always highly anticipated and was an enjoyable afternoon full of professional, musical talent amongst stunning scenery.

“This concert will be a special presentation of opera favourites performed by some of Opera Queensland's finest artists,” Cr Peters said.

“Local wineries and refreshments will be available for purchase at this spectacular event.

“It truly is a spectacular and I urge anyone with a passion for music, or those wanting to do something a little different, to organise tickets.”

The Childers Opera 2019 performance is set to showcase the talented musical skill of the Opera Queensland artists, including the likes of Jessica Low, a Mezzo-Soprano based in South-East Queensland.

As a member of the Opera Queensland Chorus, Jessica has performed in numerous productions including The Perfect American, La traviata, Candide, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Kiss Me, Kate, The Pearlfishers and A Flowering Tree.

She also works with Opera Queensland to facilitate workshops for adults and children.

Katie Stenzel is another performer who will be featured in Opera By The Lake, showcasing her skill as a dynamic, coloratura soprano.

Katie made her principal main stage debut with Opera Queensland as Rosina for both the Brisbane season and regional Queensland tour of The Barber of Seville, and in 2017 performed the role of Zorah in Ruddigore.

Childers Opera 2019 interval entertainment

The beautiful music will be featured throughout the whole event, even during the interval, with Spanish flamenco guitarist Al Davis set to perform.

Performing superb instrumental Spanish/Classical/ Flamenco Guitar, this highly experienced musician has enjoyed success both overseas and locally.

His live performances and technique have been described as “mesmerising” at the many venues he has played at.

Opera by the Lake will be held on Saturday, 27 July at 3pm.

A coach will offer complementary transfers from Childers departing at 2.20 pm from the QCWA Building on the corner of Lord and Crescent Streets.
