Bundaberg’s Pub Rock Choir is celebrating its third year with a weekend of performances including the Queensland Music Festival and the Childers Festival.
Member Heidi Brown said it was an exciting opportunity for the group of locals who just loved to sing.
“This weekend, members of Pub Rock Choir are heading on a bus trip,” Heidi said.
“First stop on Saturday is the Queensland Musical Festival in Brisbane to perform as part of a mass choir led by the renowned Dr Jonathon Welch AM.
“We are raising our voices in support of positive men’s mental health and the choir will sing Help is on its Way with special guest and two-time ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Shorrock, joined by Busby Marou, The McClymonts and Travis Collins.”
Childers Festival to host Bundaberg Pub Rock Choir
While that performance alone is enough to make a memorable weekend, the Bundaberg Pub Rock Choir will return to the region to perform for the tens of thousands of people enjoying the Childers Festival.
“On Sunday, we will then head to the Childers Festival where we will conduct a pub crawl of sorts, performing our pub rock songs outside of several of the Childers pubs.
“This is a yearly event for Pub Rock Choir and is greatly enjoyed by our members, and also by audience members, who can be seen tapping their toes and singing along.”
Heidi said the choir was the brainchild of Di Wills, Artistic Director of Creative Regions, and was led by Musical Director Laura Lingwood.
“We meet fortnightly at a local pub to learn new songs and share a drink with our fellow music-loving members.”
Heidi said new members were always welcome and encouraged anyone interested in joining the Bundaberg Pub Rock Choir to head to their website or Facebook page.
