A section of the Turtle Trail within the Mon Repos Conservation Park will be closed from Monday as works ramp up on the State Government’s multi-million dollar turtle centre upgrade.
External works as part of stage two of the redevelopment will begin shortly, necessitating the closure.
Rangers from the Department of Environment and Science advise that for construction work to continue safely, a large section of the park will be closed from August 5 to October 28.
Rookery Road and the Turtle Trail will be upgraded as well as the visitor centre, amphitheatre and boardwalks.
The Turtle Trail will be closed at Moores Rd and Mon Repos Rd.
Cyclists are asked to detour around the park at these points, however walkers will still be able to walk along the Mon Repos beach to reconnect with the Turtle Trail.
There will be no public vehicle access onto the park between these dates.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will have appropriate signage and park alerts in place.
Some sections of the Turtle Trail near Burnett Heads recently received a facelift.
