Founder of Bundy Gig Guide Steve Price talks about hearing the multi-talented Abby Skye sing for the first time.

Three years ago my whole outlook on live music in Bundaberg changed. I heard a voice on the radio that just made the hairs on my arm stand up.

As this person belted out Sex on Fire, I thought I was listening to an international artist.

Then she chatted a bit and I found out this was a local lady who, with the help of publican Rodney Wheat (the then manager of The Grand Hotel and now manager of The Club Hotel) was thrust into the limelight with voice that was roar power.

Following the interview, she then sang Joey by Concrete Blonde and I was again blown away.

This voice belonged to Abby Skye who over the past three years I have had the pleasure of going from strange guy at every show, to groupie to now a great friend.

For those who have not seen her perform you are missing out!

Abby Skye can sing everything from Sia, Lady Gaga and Adele to 4 Non Blondes so well you would think it was an original.

Seeing Abby, you witness a relaxed lady with a voice that roars with power; she can even sing opera!

The other guarantee is you will see her break a string or two on her guitar because, of course, she plays as hard as she sings.

Abby grew up in Melbourne and her voice was picked out at a very early age when her music teacher in Grade 1 wanted to work more with her.

From there, growing up loving music and moving to Queensland, she started a solo career, duo and band.

Like all good thing it took time to find the perfect mix, which now includes a duo with her partner, Batman.

Check out Abby Sky Friday night at the Club Hotel.
