Auswide Bank has a new managing director but it's only for one day, with Alayna Lynch stepping in for Martin Barrett.
In an interesting HR experiment conducted by Auswide Bank, Martin offered staff throughout the entire organisation the opportunity to swap jobs and take the place of managing director for a day.
To be eligible to apply for the swap, Auswide Bank staff were asked to submit a response to what they would do if given the opportunity to be the boss for 24 hours.
Customer specialist Alayna Lynch, 28, was selected for the top job.
Alayna, who is based in the Maryborough branch, has worked at Auswide Bank for more than five years.
She said she has always had the goal of being managing director in her sights.
“I’ve always said to my teammates here at the branch that my goal was to one day be managing director. So when this opportunity came up, there was no way I could pass it up,” Alayna said.
In the exchange, Martin will work at Auswide's Maryborough branch as a customer specialist and Alayna will be delving into the depths of the managing director’s duties for the day at the bank’s head office in Bundaberg.
In addition to the job swap, entrants were asked to nominate a charity of their choice, with the winning entrant donating $10 to their chosen charity and Auswide Bank pledging to donate $1000.
Alayna has selected the Starlight Children’s Foundation as her choice of charity with more than $1000 being donated as part of this exercise.
Martin said: “The time has come for me to step down as managing director as I hand the reigns over to Alayna for the day. Alayna will become Auswide Bank's third managing director in its 53-year history.”
“There is a pretty full day as Alayna discusses the bank’s finances, lending results, IT projects, brand survey results, branch reports, and running the fortnightly senior management meeting.
“Like any managing director’s day, I’m sure there will also be some unscheduled things that will need attention or a decision as well!”
