Step to Prep program
The learning, growing together and community-based Step to Prep program is aimed to connect groups and service providers with families at Moore Park Beach.

Moore Park Beach parents and carers are invited to attend the community organised pop-up Step to Prep program on Monday.

The learning, growing together and community-based event is aimed to connect groups and service providers with families at Moore Park Beach.

Moore Park Beach State School principal Craig Martin said the program was aimed at parents and carers of children under five years old.

Mr Martin said the Step to Prep program would give Moore Park Beach families the opportunity to find out what groups and service providers were available, enabling parents, grandparents and carers time to connect with each other while their children had the chance to play and interact.

He said it would be a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support the development of all the Moore Park Beach children.

“As the saying goes, ‘it takes a whole village to raise a child’,” Mr Martin said.

“As parents we are excited by the prospect of raising our children and from the moment they are born we have goals for this little person and think of the great prospects ahead for them.

“Many of us soon realise that as we raise our children, this period is one of the most rewarding but busy times in our lives. We often don’t get time to smell the roses and don’t get to appreciate this wonderful time.

“Associated with this is the internal question of whether we are giving our child the very best opportunity in life.”

Mr Martin said the Step to Prep program would help parents and carers spend quality time with others as their children played.

“There will be a range of support personnel who can answer queries and provide assurance of the wonderful job you are doing as a parent,” he said.

Topics that may be discussed include modelled literacy skills and oral language, consistent communication strategies and the importance of play based learning.

The Step to Prep program will be a multi-agency pop-up event held at the Moore Park Beach Community Hall at 3.30pm on Monday, 14 October.
