The Rumbrellas are set to have you moving and grooving this Saturday night at Riverfeast for their album release party.
The Rumbrellas is a collaboration of three mates – Ryan Giles on guitar/vocals, Mark (Sparky) Paltridge on drums/vocals and Justin (J-Ray) Wernicke keeping the groove moving on bass, guitars and vocals.
The Rumbrellas’ funky style is sure to wow locals at Riverfeast on Saturday night at the official launch party for their new album “Among the Sun” featuring their title EP of the same name.
The group has been working together on the album for the past 18 months and with lead vocalist Ryan originally from Bundaberg, they thought it would be a great idea to celebrate the official launch of their new album with local audiences.
The group will then embark on a capital city tour early in 2020 when they also plan to release a new music video.
The Rumbrellas’ style
The Rumbrellas’ live performances deliver energetic 90s style hip hop, funk and soul with undeniable beats.
Dynamic front-man Ryan describes their music and new album “Among the Sun” as a modern take on all the music genres the band love.
“It’s happy hip hop with inspiration from Reggae, Funk, Soul and even a little Ska,” Ryan said.
The band first started with “Sparky”, “J-Ray” and Ryan being kept busy as a covers band working up and down the coast.
After helping Sparky out (an accomplished producer and engineer of their title track) with session work for other musos, and their background in song-writing, the boys decided to collaborate to create their own unique sound and album.
Ryan said the band was excited for the launch party and were looking forward to a big turnout.
The evening will also feature local band “Purple Hills” headed up by Bundy favourite Bevan Spiers, Aspy Jones singer/songwriter from the Sunshine Coast and DJ Madra Moŕ from the Gold Coast.
Ryan is a busy musician who works as solo, duo and in a six piece but said he loved The Rumbrellas and soaking up the energy on stage.
“There’s nothing better than rocking out with good mates,” he said.
