School holiday fun was a splash yesterday at the Kids Water Play Day in Childers, with plenty of cool activities for kids to enjoy.

The free event, organised by Childers Library, was held at the showgrounds and featured water activities for children up to eight years old.

Branch librarian Denise Rapkins said there were slip n slides, water troughs full of fun liquidy activities, water play for bubs, sprinklers to run through and more.

“The idea of this play day was to give children a sensory experience with water and different types of textures,” she said.

“There was also artwork featured on the day.

“We had some large canvasses spread out on the ground with squirt bottles, the kids were walking over them to create the art and they ended up looking really good.

“They will be used for our backdrops and table cloths for various events this year.”

Bronte Radunz attended the water play event and said the water slide and funny goo was a hit with all involved.

“My favourite part has been the water slide and the goo as well,” she said.

“It's been a lot of fun and the water has been nice and cool.”
