People around the region will be making a difference by taking part in Clean Up Australia and everyone is invited to take part.
There are dedicated Clean Up Australia Days for businesses and schools:
- Clean Up Business Day – Tuesday 25 February
- Clean Up Schools Day – Friday 28 February
The Clean Up Australia Day for individuals, groups, clubs and associations is Sunday 1 March.
Registering a Business Clean Up Event is a great team building exercise and an effective way to be seen to be making a difference in our local community.
School Clean Ups on Friday, 28 February are for preschools and primary schools.
When schools register they will receive lots of educational resources to help them in their Clean Up events.
High schools can register in the Youth category, which includes high schools, scouts and guides, faith based youth groups, local community youth groups, higher education providers and more.
Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 1 March is a great way for individuals and groups to get in and clean their favourite areas.
Community includes individuals, friends, family, faith based groups, local community groups and more.
Great site choices include local parks, beaches, rivers, shared outdoor spaces or anywhere people enjoy the great outdoors.
When you register you are sent a kit with everything you need to get started for your Clean Up event.
People who register must be over 18 but everyone can take part.
Bundaberg 4WD Club involved from the beginning
The Bundaberg 4WD Club has been taking part in Clean Up Australia Day since the beginning.
“We clean up places we like to visit and keep them open for other people to use,” Secretary Brad Praed said.
Once again this year, the Club will be cleaning up Kinkuna National Park.
“It has easy access for our members and we can make a real difference,” Brad said.
He would encourage other clubs and groups to be involved.
“The more hands the better,” he said.
“It helps the environment and is a great cause to be tied up with.”
How to register for Clean Up Australia Day
Council’s Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said Council is happy to help groups and individuals.
“Council can assist registered groups and individuals with the supply of a limited quantity of gloves and bags, as well as the collection of clean-up rubbish,” Cr Honor said.
“I would encourage all residents to visit the Clean Up Australia Day website and register their own area or nominate to join someone else’s group and do their part to preserve our streets, parks and beautiful natural areas.
“Keeping our region litter-free is everyone’s responsibility.”
