4WD Club members gear up for fire season

While activities have been curtailed over the past few months, the Bundaberg 4WD Club has been planning for when members can get out again in larger group numbers.

One of the first activities planned will be at the club’s campsite and training grounds, located on a private property the owner has graciously allowed to be used.

As camping and campfires go hand in hand, the club took advantage of the Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Grants Program and were successful in receiving a $2380 grant.

This has been used to buy various fire fighting pieces of equipment in the unfortunate event of a runaway fire whilst on the property.

The staff at Sunfam in Bundaberg set us up with the big-ticket items such as the pump and hoses and were a wealth of knowledge when it came to our needs.

Dealing with a local supplier made our decisions easy, and we also got to support a local company in these tough times.

We hope that we don’t need to use the gear in anger but are well prepared if the event arises.
