Luray Beach Retreat has now opened its doors at Woodgate Beach offering new luxury accommodation in the Bundaberg Region.

The beachfront Luray Beach Retreat property was created by a young couple “chasing the Australian dream” and after 18 months in the making it is open and ready for bookings.

It was Australia Day long-weekend 2019 when a sigh of relief came over Rachel Alderson as she and partner Luke Alderson turned off the Bruce Highway to Woodgate Beach for a quick getaway.

During that moment little did Rachel know she would fall in love with the seaside community so much so, that the couple would build luxury beachside accommodation, Luray Beach Retreat, for others to enjoy.

The Sunshine Coast couple had always dreamt of owning a Hamptons style-beach house, but they knew it wasn’t financially possible where they were living.

But after that quick weekend away to a place where Luke had spent his childhood holidays that dream soon became a reality.

Rachel said Luke had spent many years as a child at Woodgate Beach visiting his aunty, and he had spoken highly of the coastal area that he described as a hidden gem in the Bundaberg Region.

“We packed up the dogs that weekend and went to Woodgate, and as soon as we turned off the Bruce Highway and passed Mamminos, it was like a sudden release of the hustle and bustle of city life for me,” Rachel said.

“There is something about Woodgate, we have always wanted to create a lifestyle, a holiday home, something with a country feel on a big block in the open air.

“We found it that weekend, and on Monday we put in an offer on the block of land.”

Rachel said they wanted the accommodation to be family and pet friendly and to leave lasting memories in the minds of their guests.

“Everything flows and has a purpose; we are really excited about letting people create good experiences,” she said.

“Tans fade but memories don’t.”

Rachel said living on the Sunshine Coast she didn’t realise what was on offer within the tourism industry in the Bundaberg Region, but now her eyes had been opened she hoped to share it with the rest of the country.

“We want them to experience Woodgate and Bundaberg, there is so much on offer,” she said.

“Discovering what is in the region – you don’t always realise what’s in your own backyard.

“When we turned off to Woodgate – I had that sense of relief, the weight lifted, and I became relaxed – I want others to have that too.”
