A drainage upgrade by Council in North Bundaberg to reduce the impact of localised flooding is progressing well.
Civil Engineer project manager David Fulton, said construction of the first stage is scheduled to finish around September.
“Large underground pipes are currently being laid in Wolca, Perry and Gavin Streets,” he said.
“The first stage of the drainage upgrade works will redirect a portion of the catchment back towards the Burnett River, providing improvements for downstream residents in large localised storm events”
“A further two stages will be undertaken directly following completion of the works in Wolca and Gavin Streets.
These stages provide further underground drainage infrastructure to address community concerns regarding the longstanding ponding of water within private properties.”
“We expect all of the work to be completed by November, weather permitting.”
