Bundaberg Regional Council Library officer, Hayley Martell, featured on Studio 10 on Monday, taking part in a segment that saw her chat with Rhonda Burchmore.
The ‘We love Victoria’ segment let fans join zoom chats with some of Victoria’s most famous faces.
Hayley, an avid Burchmore fan who was instrumental in getting Ms Burchmore to Bundaberg in 2018, logged in to zoom as part of an interview panel.
But Ms Burchmore recognised the familiar face immediately.
“Hayley, if I may say is my number one fan and friend, all the way from Bundaberg,” Ms Burchmore said on Studio 10 national tv.
“Your beautiful theatre up there is wanting to get me back to do a feel-good show, so I hope I can soon.”
Hayley said the opportunity to go on TV and chat with Ms Burchmore came as a complete surprise.
“I’ve been a Rhonda Burchmore fan for a very long time and a lady messaged me out of the blue on Saturday afternoon and asked if I would like to be on the show to talk to Rhonda Burchmore, as they were doing a segment on supporting Victoria and talking to famous Victorians,” Hayley said.
“I first thought, ‘is this for real?’, and then thought ‘what an opportunity, I can’t really say no’.”
As a fan of both Burchmore and musical theatre, Hayley was instrumental in getting Ms Burchmore to perform at the Moncrieff in 2018, and said she enjoyed the opportunity to chat with her on Studio 10.
“There was three others and we each had an opportunity to ask a question.”
“It was lovely. Her response to me on the screen was so friendly and it was really exciting being on national TV,” Hayley said.
Living in Victoria, Ms Burchmore has been in lockdown, but Hayley said Ms Burchmore has been in talks to come back to Bundaberg.
“She says she wants to come back, so hopefully we can all get behind her to see her come back to Bundaberg.”
