Coral Coast Physiotherapy looks to expand

Vivia Italia Change of use
Coral Coast Physiotherapy is looking to provide services from the former Viva Italia site in Bundaberg.

Coral Coast Physiotherapy at Bargara is looking to expand into Bundaberg and offer more services due to patient demand.

Bundaberg Regional Council has received a material use of change application from Coral Coast Physiotherapy for a site at 3 Bingera Street, Bundaberg West.

It's proposed to operate out of the existing commercial building on the site, which was formerly Viva Italia.

Council's Development Group manager Michael Ellery said the application would be assessed against the Planning Scheme for compliance and, if approved, had the potential to deliver a number of positive outcomes for the Bundaberg region.

ā€œThe proposal is for the reuse of an existing commercial building for the purposes of general physiotherapy care ā€” Coral Coast Physiotherapy,ā€ Mr Ellery said.

The application is triggered because the site fronts a state-controlled road, but otherwise pre-lodgement review of the proposal had indicated a high degree of compliance with the relevant assessment provisions.

ā€œIf approved, the use would be a good reuse of a vacant tenancy that would provide needed medical services in a highly accessible location close to the Bundaberg hospital and the CBD,ā€ Mr Ellery said.

Proposed services would include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, exercise physiology, clinical Pilates, remedial massage and personal training.

The proposed development will utilise the existing car park on the site and includes two new ambulance bays. The physiotherapy practice will be open from 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
