Pet lovers can ensure their four-legged friends are eating healthy as Raw Fur Sure opens its doors at Bundaberg East.
Raw Fur Sure owner Debbie Gordon and partner Michael Penfound were run off their feet during the grand opening on Saturday, affirming the Bundaberg community’s love for their pets.
The boutique pet food store stocks a variety of treats for cats and dogs, including roo tails, sardines, green lipped mussels, cow ears and goat horns.
Debbie said she had been selling raw pet food from her Bargara home for the last three years, and as its popularity grew, she knew they needed to expand in to a shop.
“People in Bundy love their pets; I kind of knew there was the need for a store after selling the food from my house,” she said.
“I think people are keen to become more educated and aware of the right things to feed their animals.
“The treats are all natural, no additives or preservatives, and full of all the good stuff.”
Healthy eating part of Raw Fur Sure family
Away from the business Debbie promotes healthy eating within her family, which is one of the reasons why she ensured her dogs, Bella and Daisy, and her cat, Pepper, were fed food that was good for their health.
“It made me realise what we eat is important; food is medicine,” she said.
“A lot of commercial pet food is unregulated, and a lot of the stuff that is put in there isn’t necessary for the animals, so that’s why I started feeding my pets the raw food.
“And they are now at optimum health.
“It’s about being aware of what we are putting in to our pet’s bodies, food is medicine.
“A lot of people will go straight for the medicine jar, but at the end of the day if you eat the right foods you shouldn’t really need to.”
Raw Fur Sure is located at 11 Princess Street, next to the new chilli shop, and they also stock a variety of Raw 4 Paws products, along with Debbie’s gourmet animal treats; they are open Monday, Tuesday and Saturday 9.30am to 3pm.
