Council invites community groups to express interest in hosting the official Australia Day celebrations.

Love a sunburnt country? Council is seeking enthusiastic community groups interested in hosting the official Australia Day celebrations.

Events spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said expressions of interest were now open for Australia Day 2021, closing 18 September.

“Council’s official Australia Day celebration is always a well-attended event and we’re looking for eager community groups to apply to host this event in 2021,” Cr Learmonth said.

“While COVID-19 has put a stop to many events in 2020 we are optimistically looking forward to being able to hold this event next year and would like to start coordinating with a host group on preparations.

“This is an opportunity for a local community group to showcase our region to a diverse range of residents and visitors.”

The official Bundaberg Region Australia Day celebration is subsidised by Council through financial and in-kind assistance.

“Council’s events team is available to offer support to the host group by serving on the organising committee and assisting with event planning and implementation.

“This is a terrific opportunity for local groups to show their Aussie pride and deliver a fantastic family event for the enjoyment of the entire region.”

Any groups wanting to express interest in hosting official Australia Day celebrations can find more information and the application form on the What’s On Bundaberg website.

Expressions of interest close 18 September 2020.
