Moore Park Beach Scouts' community fundraiser will have your car sparkling just in time to relax with Lego Batman Movie and dinner at Moore Park Beach Tavern.

The Moore Park Beach Scouts community fundraiser is the first chance the youth group has had to raise money since COVID-19 restrictions came in earlier this year, and it’s set to be a big event.

On Saturday, 19 September, the community event will start with a car wash at 2.30pm in the Moore Park Beach Tavern, followed by fun and games, before families enjoy the outdoor movie.

Moore Park Beach Scouts group leader Jim Harrop, also known as Wombat to the Scouts, said they were eager to hold the car wash that would help raise vital funds for their group.

“It’s a free outdoor movie, but we are hoping to get as many people as possible to come along beforehand to have their cars washed by the Scouts to raise funds,” he said.

“We are hoping it’ll be a big fundraiser, because COVID-19 may have stopped all our other fundraisers, but we still have to pay the bills.”

Jim said the community fundraiser would also benefit other Moore Park Beach businesses, as he hoped families would travel to the beachside community to show support.

“This will be a great first community fundraiser since COVID-19 for the Group but it will also help drive visitors to support Moore Park Beach businesses,” he said.

Kid’s & Co Daycare have kindly offered to support us by providing face painting, extra fun and games during the car wash.

Moore Park Beach SES will be at the event to direct traffic and park cars if needed.

“It’s great the community can start to support each other again and get back together even with social distancing.”

Jim said the event could also be an opportunity for families wanting to know more about Moore Park Beach Scouts to pop along and have a chat to one of the five leaders about joining.

Moore Park Beach Scouts meet at 5.30pm every Wednesday during the school term at the community hall, for more information click here.
