Waste services continue over Christmas

Bin collection will continue as per usual over Christmas, but residents are being reminded to place bins out the day before in case of earlier-than usual pick up.

The festive season is business as usual for Bundaberg Regional Council’s waste and recycling team who will continue collections and keep facilities open.

Waste and Recycling portfolio spokesperson Cr Tanya McLoughlin said kerbside bin collection runs would continue as per normal.

“Our dedicated waste and recycling team don’t stop for the Christmas and New Year period,” Cr McLoughlin said.

“What that means is that collection days remain unchanged for residents even if their bin day falls on a public holiday.

“However, collections do start earlier than normal on these special days, in particular, to allow our staff to get home to their families sooner.

“As such we ask residents to please ensure their bins are placed on the kerbside for collection on the night before during the festive season.”

All Council waste facilities will continue to operate as normal during the festive season, including public holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day.

The Bundaberg Waste Facility, located on University Drive, will be the only waste facility operating on Christmas Day and will be open from 7 am to noon.

All recycled goods shops at the region’s waste facilities will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
