Fabulous Fabio the Kelpie-cross Alaskan Husky is hoping to find a forever family and leave his carers at RSPCA Bundaberg.
Fabio is a one-and-half-year-old kelpie/Alaskan husky, who is described as a “wonderful, funny goofball”.
The young dog exhibits some great qualities of both breeds, and he is playful, active and alert with energy that can last for days.
“Normally this would be a negative in an adoptable dog, but just picture all the fun you can have running or biking along the coast or a beautiful bush track pulled by your very own Australian husky,” RSPCA Bundaberg says.
“After the initial excitement of getting out and about he settles well and makes a great walking companion and playmate.
“He's cheeky and will never want playtime to end – he'll put on a good show of the zoomies to try and keep the fun going!”
As fabulous Fabio is still a young guy he has his whole life ahead of him to learn the ways of his new family.
RSPCA Bundaberg advise that as huskies are known for their escape-artist antics, that to be safe, fabulous Fabio will need dig-proof, six-foot wood or Colourbond fencing around the entire property.
“Being part Kelpie, he has an active mind and will create his own fun if you don't provide it for him – investing in good quality toys and enrichment items will help to keep him occupied,” they said.
“He's been an inside/outside dog in the past but may need a little refresher course in toilet training.”
Fabulous Fabio could join a home with kids who are 12 years or older, but he's not always aware of his own strength or enthusiasm, so like any good dog parent would, it's critical to supervise all interactions with children. His adoption price is $350.
He is fairly dog-social so would be open to having a doggy friend, and RSPCA Bundaberg are happy to organise a meet-and-greet to see if they're a good match.
