HSG expands to reopen Les Chefs Bundaberg

Les Chefs Bundaberg
Dion Taylor is re-opening Les Chefs restaurant in Bourbong Street.

Les Chefs Bundaberg will reopen its doors on Monday with renowned local chef Dion Taylor from HSG at the Gardens taking the helm.

Nestled in front of the Riviera Motel, Les Chefs is a long-standing restaurant with a reputation for good service and fine dining.

Dion said by reopening Les Chefs Restaurant he would offer a sustainable hospitality service to cater for not only local residents but also visitors to the Bundaberg Region.

“With so many motels in the area surrounding Les Chefs there is a need for a sustainable service,” Dion said.

“At the moment there is only fast food available in that block.

“We will have a big focus on local produce to cater for the touring and tourist market.

“There will be affordable options, show casing the local produce of the region in my style.”

Sautéed local prawns, beef medallions, oven baked Atlantic salmon or a rack of lamb are just some of the simplified menu items that will tantalise dinners tastebuds at Les Chefs Bundaberg.

Dion said although he had never dined at Les Chefs he had heard of its good reputation, so when the opportunity came knocking to reopen it, he, and his wife Teneale, jumped at the chance to expand under the HSG at the Gardens umbrella.

Sauteed local prawns, beef medallions, oven baked Atlantic salmon or a rack of lamb are just some of the simplified menu items that will tantalise dinners tastebuds after the doors open on at 5.30pm Monday, 22 February.

“There will be simpler offerings compared to HSG,” Dion said.

“We will continue to use Barritts Butchery, and a variety of local produce to provide a clean, comfortable, family-friendly dining atmosphere and food that is not coming out of a deep fryer.”

Les Chefs Bundaberg will reopen with its original intimate setting as Dion Taylor from HSG at the Garden takes the helm.

Dion said before COVID-19 HSG at the Gardens was open seven days, and since then they had reduced their hours to operate Thursday through to Sunday, and so branching out to operate Les Chefs Monday through to Thursday made sense.

“It’s about meeting the market and I believe the central location will give the Bundy town folk a place with similar food styles and service (as HSG at the Gardens),” he said.

“It will be a clean, simple and have a nice ambiance. A pleasant place to dine with a real focus on food.

“Rick from the Pocket Storehouse asked me about my new venture, and I replied ‘life’s an adventure’ and fun times are coming!”

Les Chefs Bundaberg will open Monday to Thursday for dining between 5.30-8pm. For more information click here.
