A crew of four from the Bundaberg SES Unit have been deployed to New South Wales to assist with the North Coast Region’s flood emergency.
Bundaberg SES local controller Kieran Galey said the deployment was part of a nation-wide response for support to flood-affected areas.
“This team has been deployed as part of the storm damage response which will include tarping of roofs, sandbagging operations and chainsaw operations where required,” he said.
“They will be deployed for five days to the Port Macquarie and Taree areas where assistance is heavily required.”
Mr Galey said the Bundaberg SES Unit remained on standby for any further requests to assist in the unfolding emergency situation across New South Wales and Queensland.
He said now was an important time for residents to remember the safety messaging surrounding floods.
“We encourage anyone in the community to please remain safe on our roads,” Kieran said.
“Drive to the conditions and if requiring SES assistance please contact on 132 500.
“Always remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.”
