Troy McCallum is excited for barefoot croquet on 1 May.

To celebrate World Croquet Day on Saturday 1 May, the Bundaberg Croquet Club is hosting its very first barefoot croquet event.

Kick off your shoes and join in the fun, whether you have never swung a mallet before or you are looking to hit a ball and run a hoop, the event has something for everyone.

Bundaberg Croquet Club member and promotions officer Troy McCallum celebrates 20 years of playing croquet this year and said he was excited to host Bundaberg’s first barefoot croquet event.

“This is the first time we are trying barefoot croquet and we are looking forward to showcasing to the public what we do for fun,” Mr McCallum said.

“While most people may have never picked up a mallet before, World Croquet Day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone around the world to get down to a croquet club and have a go.”

The event is fully catered with a sausage sizzle, morning tea and afternoon tea, kicking off at 9am on Saturday 1 May.

Bundaberg Croquet Club will celebrate its 121st birthday this year and with only 23 members currently, the new initiative is aimed to draw more members, local groups and general interest to the club.
