Lunchtime concert: Bundaberg Sinfonietta to perform

Take a lunch break with a difference today by attending a special concert with the Bundaberg Sinfonietta at Christ Church in the CBD.

The Thursday, April 29 event is part of the music group's Lunchtime Concert Series and will feature Lachlan Acworth on cello, Lleyton Peterson on clarinet and Alison O'Malley and Barry Davis performing piano duets.

According to the Parish Office's Charlene Savage, the monthly concerts had been an ongoing event in the church for more than a decade.

“The concerts give local established and aspiring young musicians the chance to work with each other, mentored by Barry Davis,” she said.

“Barry is a former oboe player in various orchestras world-wide including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Field.

“He decided to retire to Bundaberg with his wife, Sue, who is a past opera singer and singing teacher of many years experience.”

Charlene said the monthly lunchtime concerts had a consistent following and were scheduled on the last Thursday of each month at 1pm.

“Occasional evening concerts from the group also attract a wide audience, with the Bundaberg Sinfonietta presenting music from Vivaldi's Four Seasons on June 12 this year,” she said.

Events are Covid safe and registration is mandatory through the Parish office on 41513128.

Entry is $5.
