Bundaberg’s love for vehicles shone as bright as the chrome that was on display at this year’s Heritage Car Bike and Machinery Show.
After its inception only four years ago Bundaberg Vintage Vehicle Club Inc’s annual event continues to exceed expectations, as thousands of car buffs headed to Bundaberg Recreational Precinct on Saturday.
Cars of all makes and models, military vehicles and motorcycles were polished to pristine condition and on show to the thousands of spectators.
Travelling from Theodore, on their first visit to Bundaberg, to show off their 1963 B61 Mack, John and Vicki Bock said they were delighted to be part of the Heritage Car Bike and Machinery Show.
And their delight was evident as they took the time to show the community their immaculately restored prime mover.
“I drove trucks for 17 years, so I guess I have a bit of a passion for it” John said.
“We’ve had this Mack for 12 years, and it’s been through floods – actually it was completely under in flood water.
“So, it took a bit to restore, but I loved every minute.
“Now it’s great to see people’s faces when they come to check out the Mack.”
Bundaberg Vintage Vehicle Club president Ian Jefferyes said the hard work and dedication of members, in particular organiser John Barrage, had been rewarded by the “magnificent” turn out from the community.
“We first held the event in 2018 and there were 100 entrants, then the second year we had 200, the third year was cancelled because of COVID-19, but this year has made up for that, that’s for sure,” Ian said.
“A shout out must go to vice president John – he was the driving force behind the success of this.
“I’m really happy with the turn out, it’s just magnificent – more than we could have hoped for.
“You can see the car park is full, and that shows the love people have for their vehicles.”

The event was poorly advertised apart from the odd roadside sign and when getting to the event the signage of where to go, where to park and where to enter was very poor and practically non-existent. Good day but tarnished a little by the lack of thought…
