‘Allo ‘Allo, based on the hugely successful British television series that ran for seven seasons, has enjoyed a sell-out season at the Playhouse Theatre.
Director Nigel Dick said the cast and crew were delighted with the audience feedback.
“We have been blown away by the response from audiences,” Nigel said.
“We knew that people who loved the TV show would come along, but people of all ages have come and really enjoyed the comedy, whether they had seen the show or not”.
“To have a sell out season in only our second performance back on the Playhouse stage since COVID is a dream come true.”
The hilarious comedy featured a talented cast who told the adventures of a hapless cafe owner, Rene, in occupied France with all of the TV characters, including Rene's tone-deaf wife Edith, Constable Crabtree, German Officer Lieutenant Gruber, Major-General von Schmelling, and the Gestapo officer Herr Flick.
After the Youth Theatre production, Back to the 80’s, in July, Bundaberg Players Inc’s following production will, once again, show Bundaberg’s theatre company’s versatility.
‘Children of the Black Skirt’ is an Australian Gothic play written by Angela Betzien that challenges audiences to consider the plight of children throughout Australia’s history from convict times.
Director Leanne Hutchings said the play was part of the Senior Drama curriculum for schools in Queensland and will be an opportunity for students, as well as theatre-goers of all ages, to appreciate excellent Australian drama.
“This performance will give students an opportunity to see this thought-provoking play come to life on the Playhouse theatre stage,” Leanne said.
“There are multiple stories told through the eyes of children who were transported for pickpocketing, who aided the war effort, who were the stolen generation and who were a part of the welfare system.
“The underpinning story is the character Black Skirt who represents authority, that being the matron of the orphanage and the government.”
An information night for Children of the Black Skirt will be held on Tuesday, 8 June with auditions being held 15 June.
