Endeavour Foundation Celebrates 70 years

Endeavor Foundation this week celebrated 70 years of operation with Chief Executive Officer Andrew Donne joining Bundaberg Mayor Jack Dempsey to mark the occasion.

Endeavour Foundation Chief Executive Officer Andrew Donne visited Bundaberg to thank volunteers from the Mother’s Day Flower harvest for their hard work.

“Today is a great celebration, we are celebrating the Endeavour foundations 70 year and also the wonderful work of our volunteers in relation to the sale of their Mother’s Day flowers,” he said.

“This year I am proud to announce that we sold $82,000 worth of flowers.”

When speaking about the Mother’s Day flower drive, Mr Donne said some of the money raised will go back into project such as fitting out the houses due to be built in Bundaberg.

“Some of this money will go towards fitting out the four new houses recently announced to be built here in Bundaberg,” he said.

Mr Donne said he loves visiting the volunteers across regional Queensland to personally thank them.

“I love coming out and visiting our customers, they are the most enthusiastic group of customers I have ever come across in all my career,” he said.

“They just love coming to work, they love helping and of course they love the peer group relationships that they develop here at Endeavour.”

Bundaberg Region Mayor Jack Dempsey said the Endeavour Foundation’s work across the region has benefitted many people and has been a great service.

“Seventy years ago, it was on families and parents to take on the main emphasis of caring for their loved ones with disabilities,” Mayor Dempsey said.

“Endeavour has taken up the challenge to assist by providing accommodation and shared accommodation in the Bundaberg Region.

“This leadership and vision for those with disabilities in our community has been outstanding.”

Mayor Dempsey encouraged people across the region to support these volunteer-based organisations within the community to allow services to continue being provided to those who need it.

“I really do encourage all of the Bundaberg Region to continue to support our hard-working volunteers at Endeavour and the Endeavour foundation who does so much for people with disabilities,” Mayor Dempsey said.

“The Endeavour staff and the Endeavour volunteers have done a magnificent job caring for these young men and women.”

Since 1951, Endeavour Foundation has championed the rights of people with a disability to live independently, have meaningful employment and participate in the community.

Today the Endeavour Foundation has gone from that one small school to supporting around 4500 Queenslanders with disabilities.
