Tourist park development proposed in Childers

The second stage of a proposed Childers tourist park has recently been submitted to Bundaberg Regional Council.

A tourist park and rooming accommodation development has been proposed for the Childers area and will feature more than 80 powered caravan sites and 46 cabins if approved.

The proposal was recently submitted to Bundaberg Regional Council by applicant AA Plus Group Pty Ltd and is for a Material Change of Use  to develop the land from a Dwelling House to a combined Rooming Accommodation and Tourist Park.

The site, located on the Bruce Highway, is made up of 8.52 hectares of land which is currently occupied by a single home.

If approved, the development will provide a number of accommodation options to cater for all styles of travellers visiting the Childers region.

These range from more than 80 powered caravan sites and 46 cabins across a variety of sizes and room features.

The development also seeks to provide regular tourist park services including amenity buildings, camp kitchens and outdoor recreation options.

Despite past development approvals for residential and commercial development being granted over the land, this current proposal represents a revised concept and is being submitted to Council for assessment under the Council’s current land use planning controls.

The site is located on the northern side of the Bruce Highway, at the entrance to the Childers CBD.
