Do you consider yourself a master when it comes to thinking outside the box and letting your imagination run wild with Lego building?

Then Clockwork Curiosities brick building competition is an event you don’t want to miss.

Over the years, Lego building has evolved from being a child's pastime to becoming a competitive sport that brings people together.

As part of this year’s Childers Festival, Clockwork Curiosities owners Josie and Michael Rigney are inviting the community to pick up a brick, whether its Lego or Duplo, and explore the endless possibilities of creating.

“The brick building challenge was born as an event to inspire creativity in the way of free form brick building using products such as Lego and Duplo etc,” Josie said.

“We wanted to contribute to the Childers Festival in some way and thought this might be a good way to get local kids and adults involved.”

The brick building challenge isn’t just for the young, but also the young at heart, as entrants are invited to sculpt and form unique masterpieces brick by brick in order to claim the winning title.

Josie said the Clockwork Curiosities brick building competition opened a few months ago, so it was possible there could be some very intricate pieces, but it also wasn’t too late to pick up the Lego pieces and give it a shot.

“We opened it up a couple of months ago and entries need to be in Friday, on festival weekend,” Josie said.

“Anyone from 5 (years old) to adults can enter with three different age categories.

“We aren't sure on the number of entries yet, although we have parted with a few forms – it's much like the Show, we won't know until entry day.”

Josie and Michael moved from Biloela to Childers last year to follow their passion for collectables, and opened Clockwork Curiosities.

“We are enjoying Childers and have had a warm welcome into the community which is great,” Josie said.

They are excited to take part in this year’s Childers Festival and Josie said competition forms could be collected from Clockwork Curiosities, 54A Churchill Street, Childers.
