The 2021 Oceanfest is on at the Bundaberg Port Marina this weekend, showcasing the fresh seafood the Bundaberg Region has on offer.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise, Oceanfest Bundaberg is a fantastic seafood festival and for those who enjoy seafood and from where it originates.

Food stalls and food vans focussing on quality, locally caught seasonal seafood, fine wines and beers, together with themed entertainment will transform the port marina precinct into a sea spectacular.

Oceanfest Coordinator Glenn Hoffmann said the event had been running since 2017, with the exception of last year, hoping to showcase the tourism and produce opportunities within the Bundaberg Region.

“Oceanfest is an event aimed to encourage tourism and to give the people of the community something to look forward to and enjoy as well as to promote the Bundaberg Region and what we offer in local produce and seafood,” Glenn said.

“This festival will be a wonderful opportunity for visitors to spend a few days in Bundaberg and for locals to appreciate what a great place we live in.

“There will be a range of food vendors, some not selling seafood to ensure there is something for everyone.”

All funds raised from the event will go back to Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise, who will then donate this to local community organisations who provide assistance to those in need across the region.

“While it is free entry, there is the option for a gold coin donation and with these funds we will donate money back into local not for profit organisations who are working hard to provide support to the community,” he said.

“You can also purchase raffle tickets online and the funds raised from this will also benefit local charities and community groups.”

Together with a range of ocean orientated attractions and displays, there will be something for all ages at the event.

“This is definitely a family friendly event, with attractions this year including the Reef Room, a display by Volunteer Marine Rescue and a ship lift demonstration by Bundaberg Port Marina,” he said.

“As we are taking extra precautions against COVID-19, it might seem like attractions are down on previous years but we assure everyone there will be great entertainment, food and the forecast is showing great weather.

“We are expecting a great turn out on the day.”

The marina marquee which will seat 200 has already sold out.
