Bundaberg Race Club set for track improvements

Turf Club Bundaberg Race Club President Dale Rethamel and MP Tom Smith.

The Bundaberg Race Club will boast improved track facilities thanks to support from the State Government’s Country Racing Program.

Member for Bundaberg Tom Smith said it was fantastic to see the improvements Bundaberg Race Club has been able to deliver through the program.

“The Bundaberg Race Club has been extremely successful in securing funding for the future of racing inn Bundaberg,” Mr Smith said.

“The Queensland Country Racing Program was set up by the Palaszczuk Government to support infrastructure funding for 32 race clubs across Queensland.

“It’s great to see that Bundaberg has been successful in receiving funding through three rounds of this program and I applaud the work of the committee for the work they have done in getting those grants.”

Bundaberg Race Club president Dale Rethamel said the club was able to make significant improvements through three successful applications.

“This funding has been so important to our club in bringing the facilities here up to scratch for the riders and for the spectators as well,” Mr Rethamel said.

“In the first round of the Queensland Country Racing program we were able to purchase new starting gates to replace our old gates which had become very dated.

“Then we were able to secure the new storage shed to house the barrier gates and now in the third round we have been able to secure track upgrades to resurface the current track.

“This funding is essential for the club to be able to afford these larger scale projects and improvements.
