ZONE PENNANT FINALS
Congratulations to the Burnett Division 1 Men’s Pennant team for winning the Zone playoffs on Sunday at Boyne Tannum Bowls Club. In the morning game, Burnett defeated Rockhampton Diggers Memorial Bowls Club 60-45 winning 1 rink. The team of Rob Swallow, Beau Mark, Darryl Austin and Darren McCracken won their game 33-7 to set up the win. Well done fellas on a great team effort! In the afternoon game Burnett had to play Monto Bowls Club to see who progressed to the State Finals in November. Burnett were behind 18-3 after 10 ends as the Monto boys came out of the blocks firing. However, Burnett slowly pegged back the deficit to run out winners 61-53. Full credit to all teams for not giving up and showing plenty of character to grind out the win. Darren’s rink was again the standout winning 28-16.
Thank you to all of the Burnett members that travelled on the supporter’s bus to Boyne Tannum to watch and cheer on the team as it was greatly appreciated by all the players. Your Mexican wave, loud cheering and general enthusiasm helped get the team across the line. Well done!

Tuesday 21st September: Open Pairs $200 Guaranteed Prizemoney – 1pm start. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm
Wednesday night 22nd September: Scroungers – 6.30pm start, names before 6.00pm. This is a fun game of singles similar to consistency singles, played in groups of 3 or 4 per rink over 12 ends. Green fees are $5, and 50 percent of green fees will be returned as prizemoney. Everyone welcome.
Thursday night 23rd September: 6.30pm Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the “Pick the Joker Jackpot” which will be $320+ this week. Visitors and those who want to try bowls for the first time will be made very welcome. Names before 6.00pm, start at 6.30pm.
Friday 24th September: Open Pairs – $200 Prizemoney Guaranteed. 1.00pm start – Names before 12.00pm. Green fees paid by 12.45pm. Plus the Jackpot will be $280.
