St Luke’s Anglican School is once again hosting its annual Ladies Afternoon Tea to raise funds for the Breast and Prostate Cancer Association of Queensland.
The event will be held on October 9 from 1pm to 4.30pm at the St Luke’s Multi-purpose Centre.
Up to 420 ladies from St Luke’s direct and extended community gather to enjoy a gorgeous afternoon of food, wine, and fashion, while showcasing the best of their fashion and style, table setting and hosting ability, and culinary skills.
Money is raised via direct donations, raffles, and ticket sales from the event, all in the hope of reaching a donation target goal this year of $15,000.
Tables for the event are dressed and decorated by the ladies themselves, and catered for by them, showcasing a wide variety of classy and delectable afternoon tea refreshments.
Table service and assistance in setup is also provided by St Luke’s Year 12 Food Technology students who assist as part of their hospitality assignment.
The afternoon consists of drinks and refreshments, live music, a fashion parade, raffles and prizes.
Major sponsors from Bundaberg’s business community contribute to the afternoon, donating prizes or sponsorships to the event with all proceeds donated to the Breast and Prostate Cancer Association of Queensland, with a small percentage given to St Luke’s Year 12 Service Club to be gifted to a charity or cause of its choice.
St Luke’s Head of Senior School, Robyn Deer was excited to host the event again.
“It’s nice to be able to host our Ladies Afternoon Tea again,” Ms Deer said.
“2019 was the last event we were able to host due to COVID-19 cancelling the 2020 event.
“It’s such a great day of fundraising, for such a terrific cause.
“The ladies in attendance really enjoy the event, as they get to enjoy a very classy afternoon and display their tables and homemade items.”
Co-organiser of Ladies Afternoon Tea, Tori Hensel said she can't wait to see the Multi-Purpose Centre filled with much laughter.
“Each year, this event is such a wonderful testimony of the importance of social connection and the celebration of old and new friendships coming together for a tremendous cause.” Ms Hensel said.
