Visitors to Christsen Park, Bargara will continue to have the option to grab a bite to eat while enjoying the sea and sunshine.

Parks and Gardens portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said Bundaberg Regional Council was seeking expressions of interest from food van operators for use of a site at the coastal playground.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance the use of this popular community spaces and the continuation of a food van in the area will benefit the park and the community,” he said.

“Christsen Park is extremely popular with visitors and locals alike and provides the perfect spot for a bite to eat while overlooking the ocean.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a local small business to enhance its customer base while providing the community with more options to eat out.”

The permit will be issued for an initial one-year period with an option for two additional years by mutual agreement between Council and the successful operator.

The evaluation will be based on a number of categories such as type of products to be supplied and experience of the operator.

“Not only does the park feature beautifully shaded, large open space areas, there is also paths suitable for bikes, scooters, skates and prams and seating and banana lounges overlooking the water.

“It's the perfect spot to pull up for a picnic and a food van operator is the icing on the cake, creating a wonderful place for families and visitors to enjoy.”

  1. I would like to give praise to PHELAN CALWAY for his untiring dedication over many years to keep the Bargara beach side public ammenities and barbecues sparkling clean. Like many of us who enjoy the picnic areas, you would have seen some ghastly messes and abuse to these structures, but Phelan’s work ethic to doing a top job every time over rides any drop in his standards. Thank you.
