Amateur song writers are invited to take part in a free song writing workshop Songwalk Live with professional musicians Rachel Koster, Boi Crompton and Eskae Van Eck.

Song writers of the region are invited to take part in the free workshop Songwalk Live with professional musicians Rachel Koster, Boi Crompton and Eskae Van Eck.

The trio has more than half a century of combined professional music industry and song writing experience.

Within the industry Boi and Eskae have worked alongside the likes of James Brown, Dolly Parton, Sting, Tom Jones and The Rolling Stones to name a few, with Boi’s first industry job driving U2 on the Zooropa tour in 1993. 

As the original duo Skinpop, Boi and Eskae have opened for INXS, Diesel, Hanson, Yothu Yindi, Roachford, Christine Anu and more.

Boi and Rachel have collaborated on songs since first meeting in 2001, submitting material to artists in the Australian scene.  Rachel has written with Stephen Cummings, Gary Pinto, Nashville's Karen Papperelli, long-term collaborator Stuart Fraser (Noiseworks) and more.  

The exciting half-day Songwalk Live song writing workshop will immerse participants in five hours of creativity, where they will forge new musical connections.

Participants will be expertly guided in hands-on song writing in small groups, duos and trios. And include acapella group songs, form songs, toplining, rewriting a hit, prompted songs and list songs.

Located in Childers, this workshop is open to all levels of songwriters, from beginners to more advanced.

Proficiency in a musical instrument is not required, and participants can bring their own instrument, or they can work with others who play.

Songwalk Live is a fantastic opportunity jointly presented by Bundaberg Regional Council and CQRASN to get the creative juices flowing and work with professional songwriters.

It is open to beginners through to advanced songwriters from the Bundaberg Region or surrounding LGAs and is designed for high school students and adults.

Local participants will have a bonus opportunity to perform their original work in a special afternoon event on the balcony of the Childers Arts Space from 4–5:30pm.

Workshops participants can choose to pre-book to perform at the same time as registering for the workshop. Please note performing at the Songwalk Live Sessions is totally optional and not a mandatory part of the workshop.

Saturday, 23 October, 12 – 5pm.

Isis Cultural Centre, 49 Churchill Street, Childers.

The workshop is free and has been funded by the Regional Arts Development Fund and supported by the Central Queensland Regional Arts Services Network (CQRASN).
