Bundaberg has made the list of the top 100 Most Loved Destinations Around the World for 2021.

Tourism Sentiment Index has released Leading Places: The 100 Most Loved Destinations Around the World for 2021, and Bundaberg is #61 in the rankings.

For the first time ever, destinations around the world have been ranked to uncover those that are most loved.

These Leading Places are the 100 most loved destinations in 2021 according to consumer sentiment – what people really feel.

Being named in the rankings means Bundaberg has earned the love and an impressive Tourism Sentiment Score® of 25.66 during one of the toughest years the tourism industry has faced.

Mayor Jack Dempsey said it was fantastic to see Bundaberg placed in the 100 most loved destinations around the world.

“How great that Bundaberg ranked #61 in the worldwide 100 Most Loved Destinations according to a tourism sentiment index, nudging ahead of Gold Coast,” he said.

“Just ahead of us at #60 was Ibiza in the Spanish Balearic Islands near Majorca.

“Hopefully international tourism will crank up again soon and travellers from around the world can visit our beautiful Bundaberg Region and experience all that we have to offer.”

Bundaberg Tourism’s Chief Executive Officer Katherine Reid said this announcement was a rewarding achievement for the region and a reflection of how the region’s tourism industry has worked hard to overcome the adversity of the pandemic.

“Bundaberg is proud to stand alongside so many fellow Queensland regions being recognized in this worldwide list as worthy leisure destinations delivering world-class experiences,” she said.

“The fact that this list is generated based on the online opinions and conversations of travellers means that our community really loves and values our guests and the tourism industry they support.

“We are a resilient region, full of passionate business owners, and look forward to continue to welcome more avid fans to our little slice of paradise.”

Tourism Sentiment Index conducted an intensive study of its data – more than 1.6 billion online conversations and content pieces publicly available about 21,330 global destinations – to identify the 100 Most Loved Destinations.

Tourism Sentiment Index is cutting-edge technology that applies the power of artificial intelligence to the challenge of deciphering sentiment from human expression. This technology produces a novel metric for destination marketing: Tourism Sentiment Score®.

This is the metric that the tourism industry has been missing since the dawn of the internet.

  1. Interesting that the council laps up all the glory for the tireless work the volunteers do, and don’t even contribute a cent to the resources that bring in the Tourist dollars!
