Skid resistance maintenance works on the way

The Bruce Highway from Maryborough to Gin Gin, as well as Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road, have been scheduled for skid resistance maintenance work.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will soon start programmed skid resistance maintenance works on various state-controlled roads in Bundaberg.

The work will include water blasting of the existing sealed surface to remove excessive bitumen which will improve surface texture and ‘grip’.

A TMR spokesperson said the Bruce Highway from Maryborough to Gin Gin, as well as Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road, have been scheduled for the work which will be undertaken from May to June 2022, weather and conditions permitting.

“Works will be carried out at night between 6pm and 6am Sunday to Thursday,” the spokesperson said.

“Nearby residents, businesses and road users can expect changed traffic conditions including speed restrictions, lane closures and potential detours that may be in place during
the works.

“Motorists are urged to drive to the changed conditions and obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions.”

The work will also produce audible construction noise, flashing lights, roadside parking restriction and private property access restrictions.
