Hughes Family Dental fills gap at Southside Central

Hughes Family Dental
Dr Nicole Hughes has just opened Hughes Family Dental with her husband Wayde.

A new clinic is filling the gap in family dental services after officially opening at Southside Central Shopping Centre.

Hughes Family Dental is owned and operated by husband-and-wife Wayde and Nicole Hughes who have created a welcoming dental surgery in the space that once housed Civic Video in Bundaberg South.

Dr Nicole Hughes comes from a long history of dentistry, working locally in the industry ever since graduating university, and said she was thrilled to partner with her husband on their new business venture.

“I have worked both privately and publicly and I feel there is a big gap in the Bundaberg community being able to access dental services that are affordable and family-orientated,” she said.

“For us, we have two little kids, so it is about providing that family environment and giving people access to general dental care that is genuine and local.”

Having worked for more than 10 years in plastering, Wayde said owning a dental clinic was a change in both career and mindset.

“I opened Rum City Plastering about ten years ago,” he said.

“When we started looking more into owning our own dental clinic, it was the perfect time for me to get off the tools, do something different and challenge myself in a whole new way.”

The duo said their aim was to offer affordable general dental care to all family members, treating both young and senior patients.

They said their space at Southside Shopping Centre, or Olsen's Corner as it is known to locals, was the perfect location to provide their services.

“We always used to drive past and think what a great place it would be for a dental clinic.

“This whole shopping complex is very community focused, and that is a great fit for us because that is what we see in ourselves.”

The pair said they had big plans for their business moving forward.

“At the moment we have two dental assistants and the capacity for future growth,” Nicole said.

“We have four surgeries for additional dentists and hygienists in the future,” Wayde added.

Opening just eight weeks ago, Nicole and Wayde said they were already receiving positive feedback from residents and were looking forward to meeting more patients as time went on.

“Our patients are important to us and creating relationships with them while working to meet their goals is what we are all about,” Nicole said.

Hughes Family Dental is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm at 1a 56 Walker Street, Southside Central Shopping Centre.

The team have an online booking system that allows patients to make appointments 24 hours a day via the website www.hughesfamilydental.com.au.
