Arts in Spring is back again in 2022, taking over Woodgate for the October long weekend.

A celebration of art will take over Woodgate again this October long weekend with the Woodgate Arts in Spring event.

With everything for art lovers to market goers, the annual festival showcases the vibrant local arts community and aims to encourage everyone to get a little creative.

The festival launches on Friday 30 September, with the exhibition opening gala and wraps up on Monday with markets on the esplanade.

A mix of fine art, music, markets and hands-on activities ensures there will be something to interest everyone, according to Woodgate Community Events President Lesley Christensen.

“The focal point of the festival is the specially curated art exhibition, which is a must-see,” Lesley said.

“The exhibition has a track record of attracting outstanding works from local artists including sculptor John Olsen and Woodgate’s own Jenny McDuff.

“We are excited to have local cartoonist Shane Foley, well known for his Phantom magazine covers, hosting demonstrations.

“There will also be paint and craft sessions for kids and a recycled art activity focusing on coral reefs.”

Saturday also features country rock musician Mark Lavender live in the park from 6 pm.

“Mark is a very popular Bundaberg musician and a great performer, so bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the show,” Lesley says.

Monday is market day with over 60 stalls to line the picturesque esplanade and park.
