Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra is continuing its legacy of entertaining the community with an upcoming concert to be held at Bundaberg East State School.

The event, on Sunday 9 October, will see the orchestra perform a number of classical and modern pieces.

Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra Publicity Officer Chris Thompson said the theme ‘And away we go’ would have something for everyone to enjoy.

“This concert is themed ‘And Away We Go’, featuring music from many genres from classical to modern,” Chris said.

“Our signature piece for this concert is the music from Mary Poppins.

“We are also lucky enough to have harpist Caitlyn Small playing with us for this concert and she will feature in solo in Clair de Lune and Greensleeves.”

Chris said members of the orchestra were a diverse group of people, both in age and skill.

“The common thread is that all members enjoy playing together in a group and entertaining the Bundaberg community with live orchestral performances,” she said.

“The orchestra consists of musicians who have left school and want to continue playing their instruments.”

The concert commences at 2 pm with a light afternoon tea available at no cost.

Entry to the concert will be by gold coin donation, and there will be a raffle with prizes generously donated by Woolworths Hinkler Central.

A special drop off zone will be available at the hall ramp for patrons with mobility issues.

Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra has been running since 1989 as a self-funded orchestra.

The orchestra welcomes new players with no audition process.
