Local artists are coming together to host a Christmas craft workshop, with participants to create a concertina booklet that can be used for recipes or gifted to someone special this festive season.

Childers artists Cate Verney and Kym Connell will facilitate the two-hour workshop to be held at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery from 6 pm on Wednesday 16 November.

Whether it be grandma’s Plum Pudding recipe or a family saying, the books have the ability to evoke emotional memories from yesteryear.

Facilitator Cate Verney said the workshop was open to all.

“This session is a chance to meet like-minded people, learn new skills, have an enjoyable evening, and leave with a Christmas gift for someone very special,” Cate said.

“We think more people are turning their thoughts to gifts they have made themselves as it makes giving a more personal and meaningful experience.

“Participants will experience making a concertina booklet which will also include drawing, painting, and printing techniques to decorate.”

Participants will learn a range of different techniques and may or may not have had experience with these before.

“People don’t need any prior experience,” she said.

“This workshop is designed for people to enjoy a creative and exciting evening, experimenting with skills they may or may not have used before.

“The aim is to come away with an individually creative concertina booklet, and having had a jolly, merry old time in the creation.”

All materials supplied.
