A new event is set to hit the streets of Childers to kick off the start of December, and the start of the festive season.
On Thursday 1 December Churchill Street in Childers will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland for the Mingle and Jingle event.
Hosted by the Childers Chamber of Commerce, the Christmas Street Party will have everything from live music, food, best dressed competition and, of course, Santa.
By spending over $10 in participating Childers stores, participants will go in the draw to win one of many prizes on offer.
Josie Rigney from Childers Chamber of Commerce said they hoped the event provided the chance for the community to come together and support local businesses.
“This event has been constructed from what other areas have done in the past,” she said.
“It is very much a community focused event with food, shopping, prize draws and entertainment.”
“We hope to see the community out catching up with locals they know and relaxing.
“There’s some chances to win some great prizes too so make sure everyone shops locally and gets their entries in!”
Josie said the event was just the start of the festivities for Childers, with trees set to be decorated with bows and carols to also take place in the lead up to Christmas.
“The bows on the trees should be going up and there is also the Christmas Lights for Businesses Competition as well as the domestic lights competition, Light up Childers.
“The Chamber of Commerce would love to see local families get dressed up and come out for some food, shopping, music and fun.
This event is suitable for all ages.
The annual Carols in the Park event will be on from 5 pm Sunday 4 December at Wesleyan Methodist Church.
